My Protein Power Perspective

This website is devoted to the information and experiences I've gained over the past four years following an eating plan, or "diet" if you must, that I have found to be the most logical and effective way to eat. That eating plan is "Protein Power" which is a restricted carbohydrate plan which emphasizes natural, unprocessed whole foods like vegetables, some fruits, fish, meats, good fats, topped off with a bit of vitamin and mineral supplementation and resistance training.

Although many still criticize this way of eating, more and more studies (check the references section) come out that back the findings the author's of Protein Power and other low-carb books have been sharing for years. Far from being a "fad," this (and by this I mean the whole-foods approach that is recommended in Protein Power) is the way our ancestors ate for millennia before the advent of agriculture. We are genetically conditioned to eat this way.

While everyone is different, with different physiologies, metabolisms and reactions to any given eating plan, Protein Power has worked for me. It allowed me to lose body fat percentage, lowered by cholesterol, lessened my asthmatic reactions, reduced my blood pressure, and elliminated my heart palpitations. Sure much of the health benefits could be linked to simply losing weight, except that in previous occasions when I had lost weight on a low-fat or low-calorie approach, I did not get similar benefits.

In addition to some biographical information relating to diet, and references to articles and studies, I've also included links to articles I've written in my webblog where I comment about recent news relating to diets, nutrition, and health. I have also included articles that I've written for a low-carb magazine called Carbhealth, which was recently bought and integrated into Low Carb Energy Magazine. Finally, I have included for free download a copy of a synopsis of the Protein Power, called "Protein Power in a Nutshell" eating plan which goes over the main points in enough detail to get a basic understanding of what to do and why.

I have created this site in the effort to help people as much as I have been helped by this plan, and am happy to keep adding to it as much as time allows. If you find this site useful, I would appreciate even the smallest donation via Paypal or Amazon.com. If you don't feel comfortable donating anything, I would just ask that you visit the advertizers listed on my page if they hold an interest for you. I hope you do find this site useful, and I'd love to hear your feedback about how I can make any part of it better, what you liked and what you didn't, etc.

Below are articles I've written on my weblog about diet, nutrition, and health, concentrating on low-carb issues:
